I am really excited to bring to you today, Laura Niemi. Now Laura is an actress that I’ve known for quite awhile. Oh, and she’s a native Angeleno and you know those are rare enough. I worked with her years ago and then she came back to me at a very tricky spot in her career when she was thinking it was time for her to make a change with her representation.

For any of you who have been challenged around, “Do I need new reps? Do I need to change my reps or are we the perfect match?” this episode is for you. And… This is a conversation that I have so often with my clients and I know that this conversation is tricky because you feel loyalty to these people who are champions of your career and yet once in a while you have to acknowledge that sometimes it’s not a match.

So even at the stature that Laura had established in her career

  • Recurring role on This Is Us,
  • Artistic director of the Lost Angels Theatre Company
  • Role on Stranger Things on Netflix

AND… Most recently with her new representation, she played Steve Carell’s wife on FX’s The Patient on Hulu. (If you haven’t seen this yet, it’s an incredible show!) She reveals in this episode her story of getting that role and how it came to be and there’s a whole masterclass in just that one story.

But.. What I really want you to listen for is that I think you know a lot of actors believe that once you’ve reached a certain level in your career everything is going to look a certain way or it’s going to be easier for you to make these decisions. Even where Laura was in her career, it wasn’t easy. This was a thoughtful decision that she had to make when reaching out to new representation in an even more thoughtful way.

Spoiler Alert: Laura got 50 meetings with new agents and managers (and she did this through using my program #agentgoals). But this conversation is really focused on where Laura needed to go to make this happen and how she attracted what she really believed would be the perfect match.

Oh, and of course this episode is littered with a bunch of really great stories about booking jobs and how Laura got to the level that she’s at in her career. So, I know that you’re going to fall in love with Laura.
