Today’s episode is wildly exciting to me because it’s a conversation we don’t have that often, but one that is vital to success when it comes to being a creative person who actually makes some money. We are talking about branding. You may be asking, but Brian, what does branding have to do with Thanksgiving? Here’s why I think you’ll be extra receptive to this. I know that most creative people can retreat from branding because branding feels like a creative prison. It feels like some way of saying if I’m this then I can’t be anything else. Our guest today Diane Foy has 18 years working as an arts and entertainment publicist and she brings all of her knowledge and experience to our conversation.
I think the part that you’ll be most excited to hear is that PR isn’t a short-term solution. It’s not just you out there with a megaphone saying, “Come to my show, come to my gallery or come to the screening”. It’s not that conversation, the conversation we’re having is about the deep inner work in order to give someone the opportunity to discover, fall in love with you and stay with you for the long term.
Oh! And, Diane calls herself a multi-passionate artist coach and I think that’s such an important thing for us to embrace because I know dear listeners, you like to do more than one thing. Praise be to Allah, Jesus and Oprah that you are creative and ambitious and what I think Diane really helps us to do is to understand that it is okay to be multi-passionate and to claim your brand.
